- Puget Sound Georgia Basin Ecosystem Indicators Report - an assessment of human and environmental conditions in the transnational Puget Sound region in the U.S. and the Georgia Basin in Canada, using nine categories of indicators.
- Gulf of Maine Ecosystem Indicator Partnership - a U.S.-Canadian partnership to identify and track a set of regional environmental indicators for the Gulf of Maine/Bay of Fundy ecosystem and produce State of the Environment reports.
- State of the Lakes Ecosystem Conference - an indicator-based assessment of the environmental status of each Great Lake, the St. Lawrence River, and the St. Clair River-Lake St. Clair-Detroit River Ecosystem.
National
- EPA Report on the Environment (2008)- highlights the progress the U.S. has made in protecting its air, water, and land resources, and describes the measures that can be used to track the status of the environment and human health.
- National Biological Information Infrastructure - an online repository of data and information on the nation's natural resources, coordinated by the U.S. Geological Survey.
- National Coastal Condition Report - describes the ecological and environmental conditions in U.S. coastal waters.
- National Park Service's Natural Resource Inventory and Monitoring Program - an effort to understand status and trends in designated National Parks.
- NOAA Coastal Zone Management Act Performance Measurement System - quantifies the impact of the 1972 legislation by tracking contextual and performance indicators of the National Coastal Management Program and the National Estuarine Research Reserve System.
- NOAA National Estuarine Eutrophication Assessment– assesses the scale, scope, and characteristics of nutrient enrichment and eutrophic conditions in the nation’s estuaries. An update to this 1999 report is in progress.
- NOAA's State of the Coast - an interactive website using indicators and case studies to communicate the importance of a healthy coastal ecosystem to a robust U.S. economy, a safe population, and quality of life for coastal residents.
- State of the Environment Infobase - presents Canada's work on national state of the environment reporting and environmental indicators.
- The State of the Nation's Ecosystems - a periodic assessment of the current conditions and past trends of the nation's ecosystems, including coasts and oceans.
- Surfrider Foundation State of the Beach– annual update on the health of U.S. beaches.

- Casco Bay Estuary Partnership 2005 State of the Bay Report - uses 14 indicators to gauge the health of Maine's Casco Bay system.
- Central Coast Long-term Environmental Assessment Network - monitoring program designed to help municipal agencies and resource managers protect water quality in the Monterey Bay area.
- The Chesapeake Bay Program - collects data and reports on numerous indicators related to Chesapeake Bay.
- Estuary Tidings: A Report on the Health of the Morro Bay Estuary - an assessment by the Morro Bay National Estuary Program that uses eight questions and associated indicators.
- Great Lakes Environmental Indicators Project - a multi-agency project focused on US Great Lakes shorelines and coastal margins, funded by USEPA.
- Great Lakes National Program Office Environmental Indicators - a USEPA program’s work on development and tracking of straightforward indicators of the health of the Great Lakes ecosystem.
- Gulf of Mexico at a Glance - presents memorable and highly visual representations of selected social, economic, and environmental attributes with the intent of building public awareness about the linkages between the Gulf of Mexico region’s ecological health, the high quality of residents’ everyday lives, and the economic vitality of the region.
- Health Estuary, Healthy Economy, Healthy Communities (Environmental Indicators in the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary System: 2002) – reports information on 34 indicators developed to understand ten focus questions related to Louisiana’s Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary System.
- Multi-Agency Rocky Intertidal Network - a monitoring network established to better understand dynamics of rocky intertidal communities in the Southern California Bight.
- San Francisco Estuary Institute Regional Monitoring Program - a program that monitors contamination in the San Francisco Bay and produces a periodic report entitled “Pulse of the Estuary.”
- Long Island Sound Study Environmental Indicators - an indicator-focused effort of the Long Island Sound Study that results in periodic "Sound Health" reports.
- The State of Boston Harbor– a report to illustrate changes in the waters, sediments, and living natural communities of the urban marine ecosystem.
State
- California: Environmental Protection Indicators for California - a collaborative effort to develop and maintain a set of indicators for the state of California.
- New Hampshire: New Hampshire Estuaries Project - an assessment of health of the state's estuaries using four categories of indicators: shellfish, water quality, land use and development, and habitats and species.
- Oregon: Oregon State of the Environmental Report 2000 - a report that describes the status and trends of the state’s most important environmental resources and an assessment of their current health.
- South Carolina Estuarine and Coastal Assessment Program - a program collecting multiple measures of water quality, sediment quality, and biological conditions for the state's estuarine habitats.
